In the beginning...

January 2004 began with Luke and Kathleen living in the Rancho San Diego section of El Cajon.

• Luke was working part time as a Lab Assistant II in the Karin Lab at UCSD, and Kathleen was working as a full time Nanny for twin two-year-old girls in Sorrento Valley.


• They were attending Kaleo Fellowship of Christ in La Mesa, where they were both heavily involved in ministry. Luke helped out as an all around Utility Man - filling in wherever needed- and Kathleen was leading the Children's Ministry. In addition, Kathleen attended the weekly Women's Study, and they both attended the mid-week Bible Study.


• Luke's activities outside of work and church included: reading theological and devotional books, earning a secondary income by finding inexpensive items in stores and reselling them on ebay at a significant profit, finding numerous ways of stretching each penny, practicing his piano skills, and playing various console games.


• Kathleen's activities outside of work and church included: reading inspirational fiction novels, reading theological books, writing her own inspirational fiction novel, occasionally writing various articles based on personal Bible Study, sewing quilts, occasionally writing short inspirational and children's songs, and teaching herself to play the piano.
